Celebrating Success: Kalandra’s First Cohort of Embalming Graduates Shine at NZEA Conference

In November 2024, the first cohort of Kalandra Embalming students proudly graduated at the New Zealand Embalmers Association (NZEA) conference in Christchurch. This marks a significant milestone, as they are the first embalming graduates for NZEA in several years. It was a fantastic celebration, and heartfelt congratulations go out to all those who crossed the stage to receive their qualifications.

The atmosphere at the conference was filled with pride and joy, reflecting the dedication and perseverance of the students. Families, friends, and industry professionals gathered to celebrate their achievements and recognize the importance of their work within the funeral services sector.

A special highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the Kalandra Care and Compassion Award, an inspiring addition to the event. Thoughtfully conceived, designed, and crafted by Janine Austin, Kalandra's dedicated and hardworking lecturer, the award symbolises the deep care and empathy required in the embalming profession.

The award’s significance and its story were beautifully shared before it was presented to the deserving recipient. The Care and Compassion Award not only acknowledges technical excellence but also recognises the emotional resilience and heartfelt commitment demonstrated by the award winner.
