Caring for the palliative patient requires, knowledge, skill, compassion and caring. The carer needs to know what to look for, how to make a person comfortable in both body and mind and then extend this to family. This takes a very special person.
This module shares knowledge of specialised practices for palliative care and explores the more common approaches that can be applied. Understanding changes to look for, how to read pain and fear, and providing various comfort cares are described.
The module helps the learner explore the key principles of palliative care, and the support worker’s role using a palliative approach to care.
This module is delivered online and is learner driven. There is no maximum time required to complete the set learning hours.
Estimated number of hours: 10 - 15 hours theory and counts for 12 hours of professional development hours. No assessment is provided.
